NJ SUMMIT — The Environmental Commission reported on multiple ongoing community initiatives, including three projects submitted to Sustainable Jersey's grant competition. Commission Chair Donna Goggin Patel led efforts submitting the Tiny Forest, Summit Park Line, and Summit Free Market; all advanced to Round 2 and could win $500 to $2,000 in prizes if selected as finalists. The Commission plans an April 10, 2027 Earth Day Clean-Up and an October 3 Tiny Forest workday.
Mimi Zukoff reported the Recycling Advisory Committee is managing new state food waste reduction requirements and relocated the stretched plastic collection bin to address contamination, though the new location generated social media complaints.
