NJ SUMMIT — Environmental Commission schedules April 18 Earth Day cleanup with multiple community groups. Chair Donna Goggin Patel coordinated the event with participation from the Summit Garden Club, YMCA, Cub Scout Pack 301, and middle school students, with Watershed Ambassador Jason Peralta from WMA5 assisting in restoration activities. The Recycling Advisory Committee reported food waste composting has collected 113,000 pounds since program inception, supporting the state's mandate to reduce food waste by 50 percent by 2035.
The Shade Tree Advisory Committee is organizing Arbor Day activities for April 24 at Brayton School, with the Tiny Forest hosting a May 3 event.
