Environmental Commission Coordinates Earth Day Clean-Ups; Hosts October Hub Meeting

NJ SUMMIT — Summit Environmental Commission plans Earth Day clean-ups and hosts October regional environmental hub. Commission Chair Donna Goggin Patel coordinated Earth Day clean-ups at Briant Park on May 20 with 27 registered volunteers from business partner Seqirus, plus a Great Swamp Watershed Association river clean-up on May 9 with about 20 participants. The Recycling Advisory Committee reported more than 300 residents have cancelled newspaper plastic-bag delivery after educational videos.

At a May 7 regional environmental hub meeting, representatives from six municipalities discussed C-PACE, a Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy program, with approximately 16 towns opted in; Summit will host the next hub meeting October 8 at City Hall.
