NJ SUMMIT — Summit Historic Preservation Commission unanimously backed facade preservation and four property applications. The HPC approved advisory positions on revised plans for 11-15 Beechwood Road that preserve an 1897 facade while permitting a four-story mixed-use office and retail building, recommending period-appropriate windows and matching brick work. The commission also unanimously approved advisory positions on exterior improvements at 527 Morris Avenue, Aubrey's Corner; a major site plan for 190 River Road on the site of the former Vanderpoel Castle, demolished in 1969; and a pool and patio project at 15 Sherman Avenue.

Staff reported 57 historic sites verification reviews from April through July, with a request to streamline the process for minor work.
