Historic Preservation Commission unanimously backs Old Springfield mixed-use project

NJ SUMMIT — Summit Historic Preservation Commission unanimously endorses mixed-use redevelopment near downtown train station. The HPC recommended approval for a mixed-use project at 791-795 Old Springfield Avenue, a former car repair garage, with a condition that the southern corner of the parking area be enclosed to screen vehicles and meet design guidelines. The commission also unanimously advised that a proposed home, patio, and in-ground pool at 45 Prospect Hill Avenue can proceed under existing zoning without variances.
Caroline King was elected chair, James Burgmeyer vice chair, and Bonnie Morrison secretary.
