HPC Recommends Against Huntley Road Addition

NJ SUMMIT — The Historic Preservation Commission recommended against supporting a proposed second-floor addition at 52 Huntley Road, citing design inconsistency with neighborhood character and development guidelines. The commission reviewed six advisory applications in historic districts and approved or continued support for five, with specific concerns raised about 71 Hillcrest Avenue, where applicants demolished a 100-year-old Tudor Revival contributing home before filing variance applications. Five demolition permits have been filed since late January for properties including mid-20th-century homes and a structure in the North Side Historic District.
