NJ SUMMIT — Environmental Commission plans Earth Day clean-up and discusses grant funding for EV charging. Chair Donna Goggin Patel led the February 23 meeting via Zoom during a City Hall weather closure, discussing a ten thousand dollar Sustainable Jersey grant application for an electric vehicle charging station and electrical service at City Hall. The annual Earth Day Clean-Up is scheduled for April 18 with a rain date of April 19; community groups can register by emailing summitearthdaycleanup@gmail.com.

The Department of Community Services requested a watershed-based event component for the clean-up. The Shade Tree Advisory Committee is planning an Arbor Day celebration April 24 at Brayton School and a fall planting of a Salem Oak.
